Jesus
instructed His disciples to "Go and make disciples of all
nations" (Matthew 28 verse 19) and over the years since many thousands have answered that call. Even if
most of us do not feel called to go out
to the nations of the world it is our desire to support people who are serving God in this
way through prayer and
gifts. Here are some of those who
have strong links with the Church and who we continue to
support.
Although
the Church does not put pressure on people to tithe 1/10th to their income
to the Lord's work, we believe in this principle and the Church allocates
a tithe of its income to Mission.

Sue
Merriman serving God with Africa Inland Mission (AIM) in Lesotho
Sue
is team leader for the work of AIM in Lesotho, caring for
teams of missionaries supporting and encouraging local churches,
undertaking outreach activities, and undertaking training in many
different areas. The work covered by the team is very broad.
Projects include the translation of Bible Study material into local
languages, speaking in schools, direct mission outreach in
areas untouched by the gospel, running agricultural programmes
to help equip the local people to become self sufficient, encouraging Christian unity, and so on. Sue used to attend Barking
Baptist Church and we are delighted to support and encourage her
in the work she is doing serving God in Lesotho.

St.
Joseph House of Hope
This
is a children and Youth Centre in Mombasa that caters for orphans,
underprivileged, and abandoned children of all religions. The
centre offers free schooling, a home for the children, a Church, a
feeding centre, and a first aid centre. St Joseph House of Hope is
also a rescue centre for abused women, old widows, and single
mothers - many have come for help and we have tried to ease their
pain.
Over
250 children aged between 4 years and 20 years receive the benefit
of an education at the school. The Church is open to everyone in
the area, but many of our members are relatives of the children
and the children themselves.
Our
link with this House of Hope is that it was started in 1999 by
Carol Bockle with the help of a current member of Barking Baptist
Church - Jecinter Firth.

Markus
and Regine Gommel serving God in Canada.
Markus
and Regine have a ministry in Toronto. They are involved a
lot in reaching out into many different communities in the
area.
Our
link with this family is that they used to be members of Barking
Baptist Church until they were called by God to serve Him overseas.
